The flag display along Market Street in The Commons at UMBC is a community-curated display that celebrates the diversity of identities and stories of UMBC students and aligns with UMBC’s values of diversity, equity, and inclusion. Many of the flags represent the countries of origin for students across the UMBC community and in some cases, flags have been requested and selected through a student review board that examines the various meanings and narratives connected to these flags and their relation to UMBC values.
Requests can be made below or by filling out our flag request form directly. All requests are reviewed on an annual basis. All new requests or any suggestions for updates to the flag display will be reviewed by the designated student review board. New flags will be included as part of the display at the start of each academic year.
